We had a great experience this past week with one of our investigators named Juan and his daughter Rosa. Juan broke his foot like 4 months ago in a motorcycle accident so hes just been in Munitipec recovering with his family. His wife and kids live in Muni and he comes back on the weekends normally. But his job job is in Mexico City so he goes back Mon-Fri and lives there on the weekdays usually. But hes so so good! We contacted him once and gave him a Book of Mormon. And hes just home all day so he reads it all day and weve been able to teach him and he loves it! And its just amazing! And hes starting to go back to work again and drive and everything and one day he went on a trip to Mexico City with his family and they were about to leave when Rosa, his daughter hops out of the car saying, I forgot something! and she gets his Book of Mormon because she wanted to read it too and shes like 14 and so sweet! And we are super happy for them and their sincere interest in the church!
We also had a lesson with Alicia who is progressing but ever so slowly and we had a lesson with her again about baptism. And I remember I was just feeling so frustrated with her, because she knows it true, she goes to church all the time and she just needs more faith but keeps onmaking excuses with us about why and how she cant do it. And im like Alicia, girlfriend, theres nothing more important than God in your life. She always tells us how she wants peace and real joy and happiness, and I just got so frustrated because all of the things that she wants to receive- everything that she deserves to receive is possible if she would just take the leap of faith, be baptised and then she could get that constant companionship of the Holy Ghost. And it all reminded me of a scripture in The Book of Mormon, Jacob 6:5 which reads
¨Wherefore, my beloved brethren, I beseech of you in words of soberness that ye would repent, and come with full purpose of heart, and cleave unto God as he cleaveth unto you. And while his arm of mercy is extended towards you in the light of day, harden not your hearts.´
I love how the Lord holds us close and forever has his arms outstreched for us to come into. He is our Heavenly Father and our forever friend. He wants the very best for us and want for us to overcome all things. If we hold or cleave to the Lord as he cleaves unto us, we can receive all of the peace and joy that we so desire. It does not mean that the difficulties we have or the trials we face will be taken away, but we can receive a specific kind of peace during the storms of life that only He can bring.
